Qu-Afters was derived from organising a group of local residents who all had an interest (and some that didn't) in various crafts. Our early meetings produced some wonderful hand made boxes, all the same shape and style but, by using individually chosen fabrics, they all looked stunningly different when completed. The Group was then encouraged to make boxed Christmas Trees, again with wonderful results and all who took part grew in confidence.
It became apparent to me that the ladies who attended were very talented and needed guidance and encouragement to utilise their skills further. Each and everyone who made the initial box was, I am sure, pleasantly surprised that they had made and completed their project, especially those who would never have picked up a needle and cotton! The pleasure I received in sharing "knowledge" inspired me to create "Qu-Afters".
The Qu-afters "name" came together from Quilting and Crafting - and so led me on to introduce the techniques of Quilting. We now have meetings with "Projects" which are adapted to all levels, absolute beginners to intermediary. These sessions are "user friendly" and include tea and chats and discussions from the "Group" as to what and where we go next. Our Group is expanding and ladies attend from Boston and Lincoln. Sessions are organised in Hemingby Village Hall (mainly) on Wednesday afternoons and Thursday evenings between September and April each year. Check the ‘Whats On’ page for the time and place of future meetings.
