RINGING IN THE VILLAGE
Perched high inside the tower of St Margaret's Church are three bells each cast at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London
in 1764. Rung from the ringing chamber half way up the church tower (with a good view of the whole church interior) a full bell ringing session requires concentration, timing and is guaranteed to get the blood moving even on the coldest night.
The Hemingby bells are comprised as follows;
IT WAS INSTALLED BY MESSRS
MADDISON AND BLYTHE
OF HORNCASTLE IN
AROUND 1895
Bell ringing takes place on a regular schedule to keep the bells in good order and to provide practice for the ringers. Our skills are called upon for services, weddings and funerals. The Hemingby bell ringers are always looking for people to join the group and to expand the skills of local ringers. If you are interested please let us know and come along to a practice night to see if you would like to learn more.
